This style is of a cling-fit design. They measure small (measured lying flat), but have a large amount of stretch built into them.

Although I usually recommend people disregard the traditional size labels (small, medium, large etc.), this is one instance where you really need to be guided by the uniform size labels to know how they are supposed to fit.
